[Thought] The King: Eternal Monarch

Super duper double disappointed with the drama. It was even more disappointing than Vagabond.

She penned down my thought exactly word-by-word.

I have been constantly watching, without fail because I was hoping to see if the drama would get better every episode. But every new episode left me feeling bored and flat. Nothing is hooking me to the story.

This is obviously a lazy review, but that’s how I feel watching the drama.

I DID NOT EXPECT TO LOVE HER PRIVATE LIFE!

First the title sounded really tacky and I have no idea what the drama was all about. If it was another TvN romantic comedy story, I seriously just gonna pass. What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim was good though it was a bit over the top and silly. But it was good.

But man, this one, is like a combination of WWWSK and Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food. Ok maybe the percentage is more like 70% – 30%, but that 30% what makes me love the drama even more. At first I feel like it was just some silly rom-com drama so I skipped some scenes bc really I just wanna see Park Min Young and this guy (i forgot his name). I did like him in Temperature of Love but I did not expect to love him pairing with PMY in Her Private Life.

Well I liked it even more when they started their fake relationship and then how PMY being a fangirl was very relatable. And then she suddenly has a crush on this guy she is fake-dating, and how she is currently head over heel with him. Even her idol couldn’t take her eyes off this fake-boyfriend. I so feel youuuuuuuu!!

Plus, this Ryan (the character’s name) is not eye-candy and he is simply a handsome-looking guy and not the usual cheesy jambu-looking kpop guy. If you watch how PMY swoon over him when she is crushing on her, I have the exact same expression. Damn. He is. Totally. Super. Hot.

*holding breath

Alright, so I just finished watching the CUTEST! the most ROMANTIC! though a bit CRINGE-WORTHY episode ever! but still, I’m wishing to be in PMY’s shoes. *sigh. It was a very mature kind of relationship for Rom-com Kpop history ever. I died, my heart literally popped a few times while watching the whole of episode 10 even without the subtitles. Okay, fair enough, I understand most of the conversation. If not, I might not enjoy it as much as I do without understanding it. It’s their content of the conversation that made it sweeter, relatable and more romantic.

Conclusion: This drama is suitable for a 27-something woman to enjoy fluffy romance maturely who doesn’t like the lead to look so jambu.

[Thought] Timeless

So last night I’ve started to watch Timeless’ 2nd season, and I watched 7 episodes straight in one day (evening – night). This is the reason why I don’t often binge on English tv series. They usually have 24 episodes per season and they have tonnesss of seasons (which are still ongoing). Once I’m hooked, it’s hard to stop. And I’d usually opt for something short just to get by for the day. But I have started to get reaaaaally bored, with all the works and duties done for the semester, and I’ve finished almost all the Korean dramas that are currently airing, so I have nothing else to do (watch).

What interest me in watching this series is because they actually make use of the histories and historical figures at that time as a prop and story background for each episode. Though I’m a sucker for time travelling and cultures in different times, I’m not really knowledgeable with the historical moments or the important historical figures of the world. So it’s like I’m learning all of those while watching. I actually googled every character casted in the series and they are very real, pretty much existed in previous years.

I’m totally digging all the costumes, man. As much as it is not real, the fact that the series make me feel like I’m the one jumping from one time to another time/era/years, however you call ’em,  I’m fascinated. Just how I was fascinated with Relic Hunter. Their vibe are kinda similar, the jumping-time-or-period kind.

Unfortunately, it ended with only 2 seasons. I don’t understand why most of my favourite english TV series always get cancelled :<
